filo: sometimes somethings simply snap!

But what do you do when that happens? Well luckily for me most of these things are characters, images, colour combinations..... So I try my best to bring them to life.

The latest of these snaps is filo. No not Filo, its "filo". I mean a cat has 9 lives and you don’t always want to have the same name for each life.

filo is now available at Brandstack. So if something simply snaps! and you manage to bring it to life this would be a good place to showcase it. I mean there is clearly no point in just scribbling it on a post-it.

Driving Again:Sweden

I got my driving license in 1999. That was about it. I could never afford a car at that time and never came around to buy one later on.

In a way it’s good not having to pay all those insurance/maintenance/gas bills.

After ten year and 7880 kilometers away from home I drove again. . Fast! Really, really fast!

Ok, ok… not that fast.. But I did come in 2nd . Yippee…!!!!

Ms. Rosy, Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka

On a weekend trip to Hikkaduwa I met a lady, quite contrary. The locals call her Rosy. Though they claim her to be 120 years old I doubt it. Every day they feed her with a delicious salad of seaweed. Yummee..….(not!).

She is quite tame and is not afraid of people. As long as she gets her treat she is quite happy. She doesn’t even mind who feeds her. When it’s time to go her caretaker rubbed a bit of sand on her back and gave her a little pat. Off she went…that is till another guy brought is another type of seaweed. Better watch those pounds young lady!

Cinnamon Lodge Habarana

Last weekend I went on a trip to Cinnamon Lodge Habarana with my family.

After checking in we made our way through a maze of brick pathways to our very own lodge.

Lunch

The hotel had set up an out door lunch by the lake. First we drank “Rusem” which was heated on an out door fireplace and served in coconut shells. No plates! Lotus leaves were used to serve lunch. This was way cool. No doubt this was one of the best Sri Lankan food I have ever had.

Meet Rani

In the evening we went on an elephant ride. Her name was Rani and she was thirty years old. We proceed along the bank of the laketill we came to what I think is Rani’s favorite location. Here there was a man selling plantains and Rani makes it a point to stop here. She understands if we buy them and she knows for whom they are for. We gave here one by one as she kept putting her trunk up asking for more.

The high point of the ride is when we got in to the water. Rani picked me a blue lily and her mahout skillfully made a necklace out of it. After a while I could feel the water at my feet. At the end of the ride we gave Rani a few more plantains and said goodbye.

3mushrooms

You have to do extensive research to come up with good designs. It’s not just sitting down with a pen and paper and drawing something! But on those rare occasions an idea would “SNAPS” just like that. This is exactly what happened when I herd the name 3mushrooms for the firs time.

3 mushrooms is an IT Business Solutions and web / software development company. As they put it “We found ourselves to be the worst customer, so we decided to outsource our logo design.” They said they chose this name for there company because it’s a cool and easy to remember. They also thought it would be good for marketing purposes.

Last September I joined the now very popular freelance site crowdSpring. This post is about my first win at this site, which also happens to be one of my favorite creations.

It all started with a mail. Aden had seen my work at crowdSpring and invited me to participate in his project. There was not much of a detailed specification on what he was looking for. So I do what we all do when we need info on something, I googled it! The result said it all. Just type gossip.com and see.

The thought was a GOSSIP! One person to say it and the other to say 'Oh,....myyyyyy!!!'

Initial Design

Two days after submitting the logo a whole new concept just snapped.

The thought this time was also a Gossip. But it was more of the sentence. The starting quotetold the ending quote... in a way the represented the reaction at the end of the sentence. This was the result.
